About Game Jams

Game jams are competitions that are similar to hackathons where a group of people with different skills in programming, designing, story telling, music creation, and artistic skills get together to create games.

The general rules of games jam is that game s will be developed around a theme announced on the day of the jam, and the game must be developed within a tight time frame which usually sits at around 48 hours.

Ludum Dare, stands for ‘to give a game’ in Latin, is an accelerated video game development competition. It was founded by Geoff Howland and was first held in April 2002, & is currently run by Mike Kasprzak, who has been part of the team since it first started.

Participants are required to create a video game that fits within a given theme in two or three days. A unique feature of this competition is that participants often release a time-lapse video of the development of their game.
